Experience in the Faulensee artillery fortifications a fascinating piece of Swiss history.
The Faulensee artillery fortifications was built in the second world war, in order to defend the réduit fortress in the Alps in the case of an emergency. After a construction period of just six months, the facility was taken into operation in 1942. During the Cold War the Swiss Army used the artillery fortifications as a secret base. In 1993 the bunker was finally taken out of service and since 2001 it is a piece of living Swiss history for visitors which is open on certain days.
Learn in small groups about the former everyday life in the artillery fortifications. Expert guides show you for example a barricade in the target area of the artillery fortifications. There you will experience how in the past the advancing enemy was stopped. To round off the visit you can review your impressions of the tour in the bistro which belongs to it.
