«Ronde de Spiez»

Classic terrain in the Hinterland of Spiez

A changing hilly trail over 50 kilometers

This trail gets its name «Ronde of Spiez» based on the style of the big one-day bike races in France and Belgium. The trail is versatile, constantly goes up and down and also goes through side streets. The route can be extended as desired in the Thuner Westamt by Wattenwil and Blumenstein.

Description of the route:
Roll from Spiez along the side roads gently through the Rustwald and further above Einigen to the Kanderbrücke. On the main road to Thun, there is a junction in Gwatt towards Hani/Reutigen. After a slight incline, the route leads right from Hani to the hill of Zwieselberg. Via Amsoldingen, Höfen, Oberstocken the road goes up and down to Reutigen direction Wimmis. The Tour de Suisse in 2021 was also on this section. By the gateway to Simmental the road crosses the river Simme. From Wimmis to Spiezwiler and from there the road bends right up to Aeschi. After 4.5km climbing you will reach Aeschi, the top of the tour at 860 meters. Following that is the crème-de-la-crème with a rapid, clear descent without difficulties to the lake to Leissigen. After a final uphill section on the bicycle trail to Faulensee you arrive at the starting point Spiez train station again.

This route is suitable for racing bikes and road e-bikes.
