In the vineyards of Spiez, direction Lake Thun, there is a boulder of energy which has been there for hundreds of years. The locals call it «Katzenstein» and is a frequently visited energy spot. At the beginning of the
Spiez vineyard sensory adventure trail, there is the «Katzenstein». The last Ice Age brought the big granite boulder from Haslital to Spiez. If you look at the boulder from a certain angle, it looks like a cat, hence its name. The boulder is about five metres high, sure-footed people can climb up and enjoy the view from the plateau of the «Katzenstein».
Legend has it that the Katzenstein served for centuries as a worship- and ancestral boulder. Apparently there, children in those times were taken from the nursemaids and were brought to their mothers. Especially during the Middle Ages nursemaids were popular. They took the child after it was born to their breast in order to breastfeed it and took a part of the child-raising. The Katzenstein therefore also counts as “Kindlistein” and consequently must have been associated with fertility rituals. Even nowadays the belief in the powers of the ancestral boulder is remarkably strong by a lot of people and one believes the energy and the vibes of the boulder can literally be felt.
